記事紹介：第37回日本トキシコロジー学会にてジョイントシンポジウムを開催

　沖縄県宜野湾市の沖縄コンベンションセンターにて6/16に第37回日本トキシコロジー学会　学術年会が開催されました。去年に引き続き、日本製薬医学会とのジョイントシンポジウム『ファーマコビジランス／非臨床・臨床ジョイントディスカッションによるヒトでのリスク最小化へのチャレンジーシステム構築へ向けてー「非臨床／トキシコロジストは、安全性医師と連携して副作用データをどう読むか」が行われました。

　その模様を薬事日報が報道しておりましたので、転載許可を頂きましたので掲載いたします。

　次回の第38回日本トキシコロジー学会学術年会は2011年7月11－13日の日程で横浜のパシフィコ横浜にて開催予定です。皆様もふるっての参加を期待しております。

【日本トキシコロジー学会】ヒト副作用の71％が予測可能‐動物データとの一致性を調査

第37回日本トキシコロジー学会
　臨床試験で発生した副作用を、非臨床の毒性試験から予測できるかについて調べたところ、ヒト副作用のうち約７割が動物でも見られたことが、製薬企業等が参加する国際的な非営利団体「ＨＥＳＩ」（環境保健科学研究所）専門委員会の調査で明らかになった。
　16日に沖縄コンベンションセンターで開かれた第37回日本トキシコロジー学会で、米アボットのウィリアム・ブラッケン氏が発表した。昨年開かれた日本製薬医学会、安全性評価研究会ファーマコビジランス分科会の合同シンポジウムでは、エーザイから開発中止化合物のデータが初めて明らかにされたが、今回、欧米製薬企業が組織的に安全性データを共有し、ヒト副作用と動物データの相関性を検討している国際的な事例が紹介された。日本でも開発中止化合物等の安全性データを共有し、被験者の安全確保に生かせるかどうか、非臨床と臨床の連携に向けて課題が浮かび上がった。

　一方、昨年に引き続き、開発中止となった事例として、アストラゼネカから抗凝固薬「キシメラガトラン」、日本たばこ（ＪＴ）から糖代謝、脂質代謝改善薬が紹介された。これら具体的事例を踏まえ、総合討論では、臨床試験で発生したヒト副作用を非臨床にフィードバックする重要性が改めて指摘され、「まだ、公開された開発中止化合物はわずかだが、ドロップアウトした化合物は毒性学の宝庫であり、皆で情報共有すべき」との意見も出た。
　ＨＥＳＩでは企業の枠を超え、非臨床と臨床で安全性情報を共有しつつある。こうした中、日本でも開発中止化合物のデータを公開、共有し、規制当局を含めた連携を検討していくことが今後の課題となりそうだ。

Report: The first annual meeting of Japanese Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine

On May 14 and 15, JAPhMed held the first annual meeting since its foundation as non-profit legal entity in April 2009. Around 130 people (60 members and 50 non-members) joined the meeting. With a special lecture by Dr Tatsuya Kondo, President of PMDA, we had hot discussions in several lectures, two workshops, and two panel discussions. The meeting was successful in regard of the vision and mission of JAPhMed, which is to enhance the knowledge, expertise and skills of pharmaceutical professionals.

1st Annual Meeting of JAPhMed Registration open

We will invite Dr. Tatsuya Kondo, who is currently the Chief Executive of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), and many other guest speakers.

Board Certified Members of The Japanese Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine

Six members newly registered on December 1^st

The second examination for Board Certification by The Japanese Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine was held on Sunday October 4^th, 2009 in the Sanjo Kaikan, Tokyo University.

The written examination included 50 questions on Exploratory Research, Pharmaceutical Development, Assessment, Regulatory Applications, Post-marketing monitoring, Marketing, Regulatory Science and Medical Economics, which follows the curriculum of The Council for Education in Pharmaceutical Medicine (CEPM）. Furthermore the oral examination were performed for candidates who passed the written examination.

This year 11 members took the examination and finally 6 passed and were registered on December 1^st.

In combination with the 15 candidates who passed the examinations last year and were registered as Board Certified Members of The Japanese Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine there are now a total of 21 recognized specialists in Pharmaceutical Medicine in JAPhMed. The member list is uploaded onto our website.

What is JAPhMed?

About Japanese Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine (JAPhMed) (Previously JAMDI)

The Association of Medical Doctors (MD Association), one of JAPhMed's forerunners, was organized at its first meeting in Tokyo on January 30, 1967, and the Association of Pharmaceutical Medical Doctors (PMD Association), the other forerunner, was organized in Osaka on August 12, 1968. JAMDI has been active for over 33 years since then. The MD and PMD Associations held their first joint meeting in Tokyo on August 8 - 9, 1969 and adopted the resolution to "promote the exchange of medical information and contribute to the progress and development of the pharmaceutical industry." It was also resolved that they hold general meetings in Tokyo and Osaka alternately; that they make positive efforts to promulgate the medical doctor's role and importance in the operations of the pharmaceutical industry including the evaluation of drug efficacy and safety; and that they hold monthly meetings as necessary in both Kanto and Kansai branches.

Following its 3rd general meeting in Tokyo on August 12, 1971, JAMDI has steadily extended its scope of activities and seen a gradual increase in membership. In 1971, JAMDI joined the International Federation of Associations of Pharmaceutical Physicians (IFAPP), which was newly organized to promote international cooperation among medical doctors working in pharmaceutical companies around the world. Three representatives from JAMDI attended the first general meeting of the IFAPP held in London, England on July 14 - 15, 1972. Working closely with the IFAPP, JAMDI has since been strengthening cooperation to improve methods of international development and the clinical evaluation of drugs. At present, associations similar to JAMDI from 24 different countries are members of the IFAPP.

The IFAPP sponsors the International Conference on Pharmaceutical Medicine (ICPM), which is held every two years. The 11th Conference convened in Berlin, Germany on June 4 - 7, 2000. The next Conference is to take place in Mexico in May 5 - 8, 2002.

Pharmaceutical companies have been making remarkable progress around the world. In order to respond to the progress of the pharmaceutical industry in Japan and its internationalization, JAMDI has dissolved its Kanto and Kansai branches and streamlined and strengthened its organization. Further encouragement of the activities in Pharmaceutical Medicine, and increase of members of non-pharmaceutical industry (such as CRO, Academia), JAMDI changed its name to Japanese Association of Pharmaceutical Medicine (JAPhMed) as of April 2002.

As of March 2002, JAPhMed has a membership of 123 medical doctors-23 from pharmaceutical manufacturers based in Japan, 79 from those based in other countries, 2 from academia and government agencies, 11 from clinical research organizations (CROs), 6 from consultant and 2 from other organizations.
